This dress that I picked up at one of my favorite beach boutiques was one of those off-the-rack wonders.

It's the kind of thing where you know just by the touch that it is going to be perfect.

I tried it on, but I recall that just by looking at it on the hanger I didn't have to.

I'm thinking it is a definite first day of school outfit!

I paired it with a borrowed military jacket from Banana Republic, which added a masculine edge.

The floral scarf - also borrowed - mixed it up a lot because it is so feminine.

The nautical stripes, the classic bag and pumps...this is a really mixed look!
